TK's Top 10 Albums of 2011

(more info, including full reviews and track streams, can be found here)
(streaming mixes, including tracks from my top 10 albums, can be found here)

10. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Hysterical
* solid rebound from an uneven 2007 release; ignore the haters on this one, it's full of great tracks and some of the best vocals Alec Ounsworth has ever delivered.

09. The Vaccines - What Did You Expect From The Vaccines?
* super-catchy Brit-pop, was my summer driving soundtrack.

08. The Caretaker - An Empty Bliss Beyond This World
* a haunting and fascinating listen, must be experienced with headphones and an open mind.

07. Emperor X - Western Teleport
* recommended if you like Mountain Goats.

06. Beirut - The Rip Tide
* the album I've been waiting for Zach & Co. to make since 2005.

05. Woods - Sun and Shade
* Woods are quickly becoming the most consistently good and prolific indie pysch/pop bands around, and this album is another great release from them.

04. Caveman - Coco Beware
* hands-down the best debut album of the year; for anyone else who saw these guys play with The War On Drugs at Club G, you'll know what I am talking about...speaking of which...

03. The War On Drugs - Slave Ambient
* the sound of a band on top of their game; was lucky enough to see the play twice this year, including an opening slot for Destroyer...speaking of which...

02. Destroyer - Kaputt
* I can safely say that this was the most unique release of the year; best experienced while walking amongst people who aren't listening to it.

01. Hospital Ships - Lonely Twin
* simultaneously forceful and fragile, this masterpiece will connect with listeners who are ready for it.

  1. I really enjoyed Oh Ramona from Hospital Ships, so I will have to check out this new record! Was completely unaware he made a new album. Nice list, for sure some stuff I will have to take a listen to, when I'm not at work.
